Our Mission
An old church filled with tall stained glass windows and warm air that smells of incense. A wooded glen speckled with early morning sunlight and the sound of a trickling stream. A small room lit by candlelight, its shelves covered in multi-colored leather-bound books.
These are our sanctuaries. They make us feel safe and at peace, so we take refuge in them. Our mission is to provide Susquehanna University writers and artists with a safe place to test the conventional limits of writing and artwork. We strive to showcase the alternative, the offbeat, the weird; the best work in genres that are often overlooked because they depart from the norm and are not afraid to explore outside the box. We seek work that will immerse us and our readers in well-crafted worlds full of complex characters and fresh perspectives. Let us live your fantasy, your science fiction, your horror. Make us feel like we belong in your world more than we belong in this one. Let us be your sanctuary.
Workshops
We also offer a workshop service to Susquehanna students of all majors. If you've written a piece and would like it to be workshopped, please send it to us (with the subject line "For Workshop") at [email protected]. Specify whether you'd like to attend the workshop in-person, or meet with a staff member one-on-one for feedback.
